Producing a large amount of vapour with your device is something that appeals to you, and so you’d like to know which electronic cigarettes are best suited for this practice? Here’s everything you need to know about this particular phenomenon, known among the vaping community as ‘power vaping’ or ‘cloud chasing’!
Many beginners are interested in exhaling massive clouds of vapour, and who could blame them? It undeniably looks cool. However, we prefer to be honest, it can be a hurdle that stops you from achieving your initial goal, that is, to quit smoking.
Indeed, when you produce a lot of vapour, you also vapourise a large dose of nicotine at the same time. This can result in an uncomfortable vaping experience and a sore throat, which can put you off vaping and incite you to go back to smoking.
Moreover, making this much vapour can only be achieved through a style of vaping known as ‘direct inhaling’. This is when the vapour goes directly into the lungs, without being stored in the mouth beforehand. It’s totally different from your old smoking habits, since with tobacco you inhale indirectly, i.e. you store the smoke in your mouth before inhaling it into your lungs.
In brief, it’s important to bear in mind that ‘cloud-chasing’ with an electronic cigarette is generally carried out by experienced vapers. It isn’t recommended for beginners who are trying to quit smoking.
In any case, remember that vaping remains one of the best nicotine substitutes, limiting your tobacco consumption and protecting you from the toxic and carcinogenic products contained in tobacco smoke at the same time. And if you do want to try out ‘power vaping’, we offer a wide range of affordable kits and accessories, specifically designed for this purpose.
How to create a lot of vapour
Now, onto the main question, how do you make your electronic cigarette produce more vapour?
There are two things you need before you start cloud-chasing:
- an appropriate kit with enough power and an open draw
- an e-liquid with a high vegetable glycerin content
If you’re looking to spew out massive clouds of vapour, you’ll need these, without a doubt. However, if you simply want to produce a bit more vapour with the e-cigarette you currently have, know that adjusting the power output can often do the trick. If you vape at 14 watts and your coil and ecigarette can go higher, increase the power up to 20 w, for example. You’ll already produce more vapour.
Equipment:
As we said earlier, the first thing you need to produce more vapour is a suitable piece of equipment.
Box mod electronic cigarettes are perfect for this, as they offer more power, a longer battery life, and several useful settings such as power modulation or temperature control!
The clearomizer you’ll need to use should be dedicated to direct inhaling (Direct-To-Lung) and equipped with large air inlets. Atomizers designed for indirect inhaling (Mouth-To-Lung) aren’t suitable, as their tight draw risks burning out your coil.
Also, you should use sub-ohm coils. These coils have a resistance value of less than 1 ohm and require more power to operate, but have the major advantage of vapourising more liquid than traditional coils.
Finally, pay attention to the size of your clearomizer / atomizer’s drip-tip. Indeed, the mouthpiece must be wide enough to allow enough air to pass through and cool the coil when you inhale. Most power vapers opt for drip tips with an 810 size, much wider than the standard 510 tips.
E-liquid:
You might not have thought about it, but the amount of vapour you produce is also influenced by the e-liquid you use. The latter is made up of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and flavourings. The ingredient that interests us here is the vegetable glycerin, or VG for short. It’s the one that impacts how much vapour you get in the end. Therefore, your e-liquid must have more VG in it than PG. Ideally, use e-liquids with a 30PG/70VG ratio, or even 100% VG, if you want to make a lot of vapour.
Which electronic cigarette should you use?
As you just read, your equipment plays a major role in producing this massive vapour, but then which e-cigarette is best suited for this purpose?
‘Power vaping’ is a common practice among vapers worldwide, and there’s a wide range of products on offer. At Arômes et Liquides, we’ve made things easier for you, as we’ve already selected the best e-cigarette kits and clearomizers, all available at an affordable price.
Some manufacturers have built themselves a solid reputation in this particular field, like Smok, Kangertech, Joyetech, Eleaf or Vaporesso. They offer electronic cigarettes that are designed to produce a lot of vapour from the get-go. From the mod to the atomizer, these kits will make your cloud-chasing that much simpler, and their good battery autonomy will keep up with this demanding practice.
Know that here you should avoid small electronic cigarettes like podmods or All-In-One devices. Instead, opt for a box-shaped model that can produce enough power and allow you to adjust said power as well. As for the battery type, you can choose a kit with built-in batteries or one that uses removable batteries, it doesn’t matter.
It’s important that your clearomizer’s air intakes are wide enough, in order to create an ample airflow and thus cool down your coils properly. Otherwise, these coils might overheat and create a phenomenon known as ‘dry hit’.
Aegis Legend 2 L200 Kit Geek Vape
This sub-ohm equipment was once the preserve of vaping experts, but it’s now widely available and accessible, thanks to their improved design and intuitive settings. Exhaling massive clouds of vapour has never been easier!
Which e-liquids make the most vapour?
As we said above, it’s important to use an e-liquid with a high vegetable glycerin (VG) content if you wish to create a lot of vapour.
Thus, you should favour e-liquids with a VG content of more than 50%. On our A&L shop, you’ll find a wide selection of electronic cigarette liquids, with 30PG/70VG, 20PG/80VG and even 100% VG ratios for making those fat clouds of vapour.
As far as flavours go, though, the choice is entirely yours! Treat yourself and try out all sorts of new recipes if you wish. Whether you choose mango, tobacco, mint or berries, it won’t affect your vape.
However, we’d like to point out that Direct-To-Lung inhaling, particularly if you’re sub-ohming , vapourises more e-liquid than usual. Therefore, we recommend you adjust your nicotine level, as you’ll be absorbing more liquid and thus, more nicotine. If you're on a 6mg/ml nicotine dosage, for example, it’s a good idea to lower it to a 3mg/ml dose when ‘power vaping’.
What is ‘cloud chasing’?
Also called ‘power vaping’, ‘cloud chasing’ consists in producing large vapour clouds with your electronic cigarette. This practice was born several years ago in the United States and Southeast Asia, where vapers were tinkering with their e-cigarettes and fitting rebuildable drippers onto them to produce a lot of vapour.
Since then, the trend has spread throughout the world, spawning many trick competitions. It didn’t take long for the manufacturers to realise that the demand was high for powerful and complete kits that could accommodate this spectacular practice. Even if vaping was born from a very straightforward desire to quit smoking, vapers rapidly found ways to amuse themselves whilst doing so, and thus the cloud chasers were born!
